Behind Wildlife Counts
Wildlife Counts is led by me, Tania — a qualified primary teacher with a background in zoology and ecology.
As a classroom teacher, I was always looking for resources I could simply pick up and teach. I loved bringing real-world topics into the classroom, but too often a great resource still needed extra planning, adapting or additional materials before it was actually ready to use.
At the same time, there are brilliant organisations doing important work for animals, wildlife and the environment, with knowledge and messages that deserve to reach young people.
Wildlife Counts brings those two worlds together.
I help organisations turn their expertise, campaigns and ideas into engaging education that works in a real classroom — combining their knowledge with my understanding of curriculum, teaching and what busy teachers actually need.
With a BSc in Zoology, an MSc in Freshwater & Marine Ecology, an NPQ in Leading Teacher Development and teaching experience across England and Scotland, I bring together education and environmental knowledge to create resources that are meaningful, practical and genuinely ready to teach.
